How it works

Three steps. That's it.

01

Install Sonant

Drop it in Applications. It lives in your menu bar — no Dock icon, no windows, no clutter.

02

Play something

Open Apple Music or Spotify and hit play. Sonant auto-detects which player is active.

03

Control from the bar

Play, pause, skip, seek — all from the glass pill. Or use global shortcuts from any app.

Features

Everything you need. Nothing you don't.

Liquid Glass UI

Translucent dark pill with specular highlights, gradient borders, and inner shadows that blend into the menu bar.

Live Visualizer

Four animated bars pulse in sync with your music — a subtle, satisfying signal that audio is flowing.

Instant Controls

Play, pause, skip, and scrub the progress bar — all without switching windows or breaking focus.

Smart Detection

Automatically detects whether you're on Apple Music or Spotify and pulls in artwork, title, and artist in real time.

Global Shortcuts

Cmd+Shift+Space to play/pause, arrow keys to skip — works from any app without touching the mouse.

Sleep Timer

Set a 15, 30, 45, 60, or 90-minute timer. Music pauses automatically — perfect for winding down.

The Pill

Designed to disappear.

A 185-pixel glass pill that feels native to macOS. Every detail — the specular highlight, the gradient border, the spring animations — is crafted to blend in, not stand out.

FAQ

Questions? Answers.

Does Sonant work with both Apple Music and Spotify?

Yes. It auto-detects which player is active and pulls in the current track, artwork, and playback state. No configuration needed — just play something.

Does it show a Dock icon or open any windows?

No. Sonant runs as a menu-bar-only app (LSUIElement). There's no Dock icon and no windows — just the glass pill in your menu bar.

Will it drain my battery or slow down my Mac?

No. Sonant uses 1-second polling with cached artwork and minimal CPU. When no music is playing, it's essentially idle. It weighs about 1.2 MB total.

Can I control playback with keyboard shortcuts?

Yes. Cmd+Shift+Space toggles play/pause, Cmd+Shift+Right Arrow skips forward, Cmd+Shift+Left Arrow goes back. These work globally from any app.

What about the sleep timer?

Right-click the pill and choose a timer — 15, 30, 45, 60, or 90 minutes. When time's up, music pauses automatically. Great for falling asleep.

Does it collect any data?

No. Sonant has zero analytics, zero telemetry, and zero network calls. Listening stats are stored locally on your Mac and never leave it.
